GoodsTag has received a large grant from the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy to lead the innovation project SMile (smart last mile logistics in urban and rural areas) in collaboration with HPI and GS1.
The project is part of the Smart Services World II concept of the German government. GoodsTag will be joined by Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI), GS1 Germany, Parcelbox2Go, and the University of Leipzig to build innovative crowd logistics and sharing concepts to realize a target-flexible, customer-friendly handling of last mile deliveries. The solution will be implemented on GoodsTag’s Smart Product Services Platform (SPSP).
Modern ID technologies such as RFID, NFC, QR, etc. make it possible to track and analyze dynamic processes, packages, and events with mobile devices and one central smart ID services platform. Such a platform creates huge economic opportunities for platform operators, service providers and end customers who are looking for decentral, seamless, dynamic, and more efficient logistics solutions.
This innovative IoT pilot project brings together couriers and parcel services and lets them cross- collaborate to create a more customer-oriented, agile solution where recipients can receive packages personally, change destinations last-minute, and yet maintain the same secure and necessary identification standards, all through GoodsTag’s SPSP.
